HUNGER
50cm x 35cm - 2010
Rice and acrylic
The word ‘hunger’ is portrayed in Hindi, drowned in a sea of black rice. The element of primary sustenance appears to be charred by famine spreading in a developing country as India that, despite it’s high ranking in technology, is still struggling to find a solution to starvation. Rice is an essential element, not only in India, but all over the world. Every grain becomes the embodiment of each member of the population. All are suffering for the stabbing pain of famine; each one wonders and migrates in the quest of a place capable of erasing the word ‘hunger’.
